Our story
Passionate about cars, our founder created this showroom to connect collectors with iconic vehicles from history
Blue Mountain Garage has been in the business of restoring Concours-winning European sports cars since 1986. Porsche is our marque of choice. Only the finest will do—from metal finishing the body to the last original Porsche crest installed on the hood. While cosmetics are critical, drivability is essential to fulfilling our ultimate goal of a satisfied client.
Blue Mountain Garage began in the mid-1980s with Michael Clemence and his truck, followed by the dolly. Michael would advertise for any European Classic Cars: Dead or Alive. He grew up in New Zealand, where these cars were rare but distinctive. As a teenager, he began familiarizing himself with German engineering by rebuilding any VW he could afford. Michael and his wife Ruth always had a garage full of cars in various stages of disrepair.
In the early 1990s, the market began to shift, and 1950s and 1960s sports cars were being rediscovered. The restoration side of Blue Mountain Garage was born. The focus of the business changed from exporting to restoring cars for domestic and international clients.
Today, we have a full restoration facility employing a staff capable of metal fabrication and finishing, paint and body prep, as well as mechanical work. This allows us to perform all restoration functions in-house, enhancing efficiency and ensuring quality control is assured.
